London 2012 Home Head Journey

Why we're getting behind Louise Damen and London 2012

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local Long Distance Runner, Louise Damen as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Louise Damen trains locally, at the Poole Runners Club in Dorset. Winchester born Louise Damen has been running since the age of 12 and at just 24 has already won several major events.

"I'm really grateful to Wood of Bournemouth and BMW for their support," said Louise "It's tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it's a big help knowing that they are behind us, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having a brand new BMW 1 Series Convertible from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There's a lot of traveling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it's great being able to arrive there in style."

David Cranwell, Dealer Principal at Wood of Bournemouth, said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012 so we're really happy to be backing Louise - especially since she's a local athlete training just down the road from us."
